Ingredients
  

Main Ingredients
  • 2 cups cooked and cooled rice Use leftover rice for the best texture.
  • 1 medium onion, chopped Add more or less to taste.
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced Don't skimp on the garlic for flavor.
  • 1 cup mixed vegetables (carrots, peas, etc.) Use whatever vegetables you have on hand.
  • 2 large eggs Fry separately or scramble in the dish.
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce Adjust based on taste.
  • 1 teaspoon chili or black pepper For added heat, if desired.
Garnishes
  • 1 fried egg (sunny-side up) Place on top when serving.
  • 1 slices of cucumber or tomato Optional for freshness.
  • to taste fried shallots or green onions Add as a final touch.
  • to taste shrimp crackers For added crunch.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Heat the pan and add chopped onion and minced garlic. Sauté until translucent.
  2. Add the mixed vegetables and the eggs; stir-fry until the eggs are cooked.
  3. Mix in the cold cooked rice, ensuring it doesn't clump together.
  4. Pour in the soy sauce and mix until the rice is golden and fragrant.
  5. Add chili or pepper for extra heat, and combine well.
Serving
  1. Serve hot, topped with a fried egg, cucumber or tomato slices, fried shallots or green onions, and shrimp crackers if desired.

Notes

Nasi Goreng tastes great at any temperature and can be enjoyed for breakfast or as a quick meal. Variations with chicken, shrimp, or tofu are also delicious.
